Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) is a regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) that advocates for and supports a network of member ACCHS across the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established in 1986, KAMS has expanded its reach to include various communities, pooling resources and efforts to enhance healthcare delivery.
Our comprehensive services range from financial and accounting support to health promotion and research, all aimed at improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal people. KAMS strives to provide quality preventative and primary healthcare services, build a skilled workforce, and advocate for Aboriginal health issues on both local and national platforms.
Position Overview
The Patient Care Assistant will be based in Kununurra on a Part-time basis. You will play a vital role in supporting patients at the Renal Health Centre by assisting them with daily living activities and contributing to their overall care experience within the Dialysis . This position involves a combination of patient interaction, support for clinical staff, and adherence to health and safety standards.
As a Patient Care Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring a high level of cleanliness and organisation within the facility while actively participating in service planning and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities during their visits to the Renal Health Centre, including meal preparation and cleanliness.
- Support clinical staff in delivering patient care and treatment, ensuring compliance with infection control standards.
- Safely transport patients and goods in accordance with regulations, maintaining a focus on patient safety.
- Manage cleaning and maintenance schedules to uphold hygiene standards within the Renal Health Centre.
- Participate in service planning and quality improvement projects, contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates who exhibit a strong commitment to the values of Aboriginal Community Control and demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal culture. Ideal candidates will possess effective communication skills, a good work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to the philosophy and practise of Aboriginal Community Control.
- Understanding of Aboriginal culture and willingness to create a culturally safe environment.
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Current National police clearance
- “C” class Western Australian Drivers’ licence and an additional Passenger Transport Driving (PTD) Licence.
Desirable qualifications include experience in a health environment and a Certificate II or III in Health Support Services.
Salary & Benefits
This position offers a salary of $74,446 per annum pro rata, along with the following benefits:
- Accommodation Allowance of $7,800 per annum pro rata
- Annual Airfare of $1,800 per annum (after 12 months of service)
- Salary sacrifice up to $30,000 per annum (Optional)
