Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) is a regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of Aboriginal people across the Kimberley region. Established in 1986, KAMS supports a network of member ACCHS, advocating for effective health services and providing comprehensive primary healthcare in remote communities.
Our services encompass a range of programs including health promotion, social and emotional well-being, and regional population health initiatives. KAMS is committed to fostering a strong and culturally appropriate health workforce to ensure quality care for Aboriginal communities.
Position Overview
The Patient Care Assistant will be based in Broome on a Casual basis. You will play a vital role in supporting patients attending the Renal Health Centre by assisting with daily activities within the centre, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining a clean and efficient healthcare environment. This position requires a commitment to culturally safe practises and an understanding of Aboriginal health issues.
Key responsibilities include supporting patients when attending their dialysis treatment, assisting clinical staff with patient care, managing transportation of clients, and ensuring adherence to cleaning and maintenance protocols in the Renal Health Centre.

Candidate Profile
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual who is committed to providing quality care to Aboriginal patients while working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong commitment to the philosophy and practise of Aboriginal Community Control.
- Understanding of Aboriginal culture and dedication to creating a culturally safe environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload.
- High level of integrity in maintaining confidentiality.
- Current National police clearance
- “C” class Western Australian Drivers’ licence.
- Patient Transport Driver Authorisation (PTD) is essential.
Preferred qualifications include experience in a health environment and a Certificate II or III in Health Support Services.
Salary and Benefits
This position offers a competitive base salary of $74,446 per annum pro rata with 25% Casual loading of base salary.
