About Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS)
Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) is the peak regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established in 1986, KAMS was formed to provide a unified voice for Aboriginal health and well-being, and to deliver centralised resources and collective advocacy in partnership with its Member Services. KAMS is governed by a Board of Directors made up of Aboriginal health leaders from across its Member Services.
Our vision is that all Kimberley Aboriginal people are empowered to be strong, healthy, and connected through Aboriginal community-controlled services. Our purpose is to deliver holistic health and well-being outcomes in partnership with Aboriginal-led organisations, centred around Aboriginal culture and knowledge.
KAMS is a proud member of the Aboriginal Health Council of WA (AHCWA), the Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia (CASWA), and the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO).
Position Overview
The Aboriginal Health Worker role is based in Kununurra on a Full-time basis - You will report to the Clinical Nurse Specialist and play a crucial role in managing a client caseload while delivering patient care in accordance with best practise guidelines. This position requires a compassionate individual who is eager to participate in ongoing professional education and contribute to the quality improvement of services provided by the Kimberley Renal Service.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a client caseload, providing haemodialysis in line with established protocols and policies.
- Administer medications as per certification, ensuring clarity and safety in medication management.
- Encourage and educate clients and families about health practises in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Participate in team meetings and quality improvement projects to enhance service delivery.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a dedicated individual who possesses a strong commitment to Aboriginal health care and cultural safety. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Aboriginal Primary Health Care.
- Certificate IV in Medication or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and manage workload effectively.
- High level of integrity in maintaining confidentiality.
- National Police clearance.
Salary & Benefits
The base salary for this position is $96,490 per annum, pro rata. Additional benefits include
- Accommodation allowance of $13,000 per annum, pro rata
- Annual airfare allowance of $1,800 per annum, pro rata
- Opportunity for salary sacrifice up to $30,000 per annum, pro rata.
